Conversational tones

It had been a while since we’d been in the city for an outing. Cheerful, we were. Busy streets and honking cars animated the ride to and from the museum. The traffic noise led to a discussion on perceptions; on how easy it was to distinguish the intent of other drivers by the blasts of the horn; more precisely by the number and length of each honk. We were amused by the similarity of our understanding of things. From there, the tone of this weekly contribution found its way. Staff working on implementing quality care programs such as BFHI/BFI may take part in activities that contribute to a deeper understanding of communication skills. A family-centered counseling approach, for example. Imparting increased awareness of the impressions that may be gathered from words and tone used in conversation with mother/parent-infant dyads.

A wish for a toolbox.

Spring is just around the corner, in my area. For some who are planning to move to a new setting, grown children moving out of the family home for example, spring is a popular season to prepare for the upcoming event and to start packing up.

“Folks, would you have any extra tools I could bring to my new home? It could be useful to have a toolbox in case I need to do some work.” These overheard words conjured up the content of this contribution.

Kept as a sweet memory; the kindness shown by the staff of the health care unit that provides care to sick newborns. This is how some parents remember their time in the neonatal unit. Perhaps many, like me, believe that positive stories are a great source of motivation for continuous quality improvement in care. In the same fashion, the BFHI/BFI implementation process can strengthen the importance of having quality-care-minded health care providers helping parents feel heartily welcomed in a neonatal care setting. This is similar in some respects to the idea of parents and staff as partners in care.

Today’s routine activity of reading the paper in the early morning leaves me, as many, pensive.

It is from this state of pensiveness or reflectiveness from which emanated the following exposition of ideas.

As it is understood that reflection on practice leads to the refinement of clinical skills, focusing on the importance of breastfeeding|chestfeeding counseling in emergency settings is evident.

The process of implementing quality programs such as BFHI/BFI may open pathways with the intent to improve practice in areas related to perinatal health care. Relentlessly working towards supporting all families in a meaningful way, according to their current situation.

While usually a happy moment, the event surrounding birth can sometimes be sad. This certainly emphasizes the significance of providing high-quality care to bereaved families.

We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to:
